Role permissions breakdown

What a user can see and do in their Lever environment is dictated by their role. In turn, roles are provisioned with permissions corresponding to the objects and workflows in each part of the platform. Lever has five preconfigured roles: Super Admin, Admin, Team Member, Limited Team Member, and Interviewer. The permissions for these roles cannot be edited.

When a user is added to Lever, their account is configured with the role that will dictate what they can view and the actions they can take. To learn more about this workflow, refer to our help article on user management.

The table in this article lists all configurable permissions in Lever, grouped by platform area, as well as the permission sets for each of the five preconfigured roles. Note that any of the listed permissions can be provisioned for a custom role. To learn more, refer to our help article on configuring custom role permissions.


Roles by function

While the roles given to users in your Lever environment can vary based on your organization's needs, the five preconfigured roles are typically granted along the following function-specific categories:

Although the Interviewer role does not have any configurable permissions, users with this role have the ability to complete interview feedback forms and submit referrals.

Permission definitions

Below you will find the definitions for each permission. If a permission is dependent on any other permissions, they will be listed below the definition.

What are dependent permissions?

Dependent permissions are those that need to be enabled in conjunction with other permissions in order for the role to which they are associated to function properly. For example, if a custom role has permission A, but permission A is dependent on permissions B and C, the custom role must have permissions A, B, and C.


Postings, candidates, and requisitions

Manage profiles and view associated postings
Grants access to all non-confidential candidates within Lever or profiles and postings the user is granted access to from the posting, by department, team, or location, as well as those for which they are the hiring manager or owner. Users with this permission can be granted Sensitive Information Privileges and (in the event they do not have access to all profiles and postings) personalized degrees of candidate access. Users with this permission can also be granted the ability to perform bulk candidate imports. To learn more, refer to our bulk candidate import article.

Interviews

View other users' interview feedback
Grants users access to view interview feedback other than their own or grant access to view interview feedback only for the panel of which they are a part. If a custom role is provisioned with this permission, it will override the default interview feedback visibility configured in your Lever instance's Company settings. When on the interview panel, view other users' feedback before submitting their own
Before submitting their own feedback on a candidate, users have the ability to view feedback from other interviewers. To learn more, refer to our help article in interview feedback visibility.

Complete feedback on behalf of other users
Users can submit interview feedback on behalf of any user involved in the interview process. Note: this permission is exclusively granted to Super Admins within default roles.

Candidates

Approve offers on behalf of other users
User can authorize job offers on behalf of any user in the approval hierarchy. Note: this is restricted to Super Admins within default roles. To learn more, refer to our help article on approving by proxy.

Edit, delete, and make activity secret on the candidate profile
Users are authorized to modify and delete candidate profiles activities that they did not create, which involves activities like stage movement, archiving, sending emails, and adding remarks.

Anonymize candidates
Grants access to anonymize candidates via profile and the 'Candidate data' tab via data compliance settings. To learn more, refer to the section on anonymizing candidate data in our data compliance help article.

Manage sources
Users can create and modify sources via their account settings. To learn more about source tags, refer to our help article on tag creation and management.

Manage tags

Approve postings on behalf of other users
Users can authorize postings on behalf of any user in the approval hierarchy. Note: this is restricted to Super Admins within default roles. To learn more, refer to our help article on approving by proxy.

Create and edit postings
Users can create, edit, and remove all postings excluding confidential postings. To learn more, refer to our help article on creating creating and managing job postings. Users with this permission can also be granted Sensitive Information Privileges and personalized degrees of candidate access.

Confidential postings, requisitions, and profiles

View confidential job postings, requisitions, and manage profiles
Users can gain access to either all confidential postings, requisitions, and profiles or specific postings and associated profiles as well as postings and requisitions for which they are the owner, the hiring manager, or creator.

Create and edit confidential postings
Users have the option to either create or edit all confidential postings, or only those for which they are the posting owner. To learn more, refer to our help article on confidential postings.

Requisitions

View requisitions
Users have the ability to see all requisitions, but they do not have permission to create, modify, or remove them.

Delete requisitions
Users have the ability to any delete open, closed, or on hold requisitions and/or the ability to delete draft, pending, and rejected requisitions. This permission does not confer the ability to create or modify requisitions.

Create and edit requisitions that the user has access to

Link job postings and requisitions to each other
Users can link requisitions that they have to which they have access to job postings, or vice versa. To learn more, refer to our help article on linking job postings and requisitions.

Manage candidate surveys
Users can configure and read reports on different type of surveys for their organization in Lever. Survey configuration can be done via the 'Surveys' tab of the company settings page. Delete custom application questions

Grant access to all or specific Visual Insight dashboards. The specific Visual Insights dashboards option include the ability to configure visibility into the following: Overview dashboard, Requisitions dashboard, Pipeline dashboard, Postings dashboard, Sources dashboard, Offers dashboard, Interviews dashboard, Nurture dashboard, Compliance dashboard, EEO dashboard, Recruiter Operations dashboard, Talent Acquisition Benchmarks dashboard, Candidate Experience Surveys dashboard, Hiring Manager dashboard, Data Explorer, Time-to-Hire Wizard, Time-to-Fill Wizard, Exports. Change Visual Insights report schedules
Users can make edits to the delivery schedule of dashboards shared on a recurring cadence. To learn more, refer to our help article on sharing dashboards.

Manage Visual Insights report settings
User can access the 'Settings' page in Visual Insights, giving them ability to configure the time-to-hire and time-to-fill calculations, as well as the ability opt-in to data sharing in order to enable the Talent Acquisition Benchmarks dashboard. Interviews

Manage Easy Book links
Users can create, edit, and delete Easy Book links for themselves via their account settings. To learn more, refer to our help article on creating and using Easy Book links.

Edit approval chains for requisitions, postings, and offers

Manage API credentials and manage integrations
Users can generate, view, and remove Application Programming Interface (API) credentials that enable the tools in their organization's tech suite to access data in the Lever environment. Manage Data Warehouse Sync integration

Manage texting settings
Users with texting permission can utilize the 10DLC form to set up texting. For more information refer to our help article on candidate texting

Administration and configuration

Company configuration

Receive in-app administrative communications
Users will receive in-app communications from Lever, including product tutorials for new features and self-guided implementation walkthroughs.

Manage agencies
User can create, edit, view, and delete agencies. To learn more, refer to our help article on connecting and working with agencies.

Manage company contacts
User can modify your organization's key contacts in charge of managing the Lever platform by adding, removing, or updating them. Lever uses these contact to connect with the appropriate individual in your organization based on the specific subject matter.

Manage company settings
Company-level settings including the configuration of departments and teams, locations, work types, and specific email sync options. To learn more, refer to our help article on configuring company settings.

View and edit compliance settings
Users can setup GDPR or data compliance preferences in their Lever environment for their organization. To learn more, refer to our help article on configuring data compliance settings.

Manage feedback settings
User can create new feedback forms and modify the existing ones according to their organization's preferences. To learn more, refer to our help article on creating interview feedback forms.

Manage form settings
Users can create new forms and customize existing forms. To learn more, refer to our help article in configuring and using forms.

Manage requisition settings
Users can activate and deactivate requisitions, set up default requisition fields, edit custom requisition fields, and manage requisition approvers. To learn more, refer to our help article on configuring requisition settings.

Receive and request sensitive details and changes to occur
Users can request or receive notifications regarding sensitive account alterations, such as sandbox refreshes and payment details.

Manage job sites
User can configure external and internal job sites, design application forms and posting templates, and customize the appearance of your Lever-hosted job site to align with your organization's branding. To learn more, refer to our help article on configuring your Lever-hosted job site.

Edit locking of sources and tag creation
User can lock source and tag creation. When source and tag creation is locked, only users with the 'Manage tags' permission can create and edit sources and tags. To learn more, refer to our help article on tag creation and management.

Users and roles

View and edit roles in settings
Users can create new roles, modify current roles, and configure permissions assigned to custom roles. To learn more, refer to our help article on creating and managing custom roles.

View, edit, and create users in settings
Users can incorporate, reinstate, disable, and relocate users within and between roles. This permission also gives users the ability to change other users' Sensitive Information Privileges and grant other users personalized degrees of candidate access via their user profile.
